- Expertise: studies of biomarkers as a potential diagnostic tool for early diagnosis of stroke. Active cooperation with Vall d´Hebron Institute in Barcelona.
,,I was excited to join medical research with clinical background and get a chance to help real stroke patients.”
Jan Mičan
- Medical student at Medical Faculty of MU in Brno & Researcher in Protein Engineering group in Loschmidt Laboratories of Faculty of Science, MU and FNUSA-ICRC
- Expertise: development of new thrombolytics using supercomputer simulations
,,Since my later teenage years, I wanted to be a researcher and help people in situations where they are most desperate for help, so I chose to study medicine. Until today I remember that on the first day of my life after the Anatomy exam (which I didn’t believe was real until then) I was offered to research the treatment of stroke. I immediately accepted and it was one of the brightest days of my life.”
Sandra Thalerová
- PhD student in Biochemistry at Faculty of Science at MU in Brno & Junior Researcher at FNUSA-ICRC
- Expertise: in vitro modelling of stroke and enzymatic testing of processes related to thrombolysis
- awarded the Ph.D. Talent award in 2020
,,I have always been interested in studying blood physiology, and the project I have joined as a bachelor student offered an overlap in clinical research into stroke.”
Martin Toul
- PhD student in Molecular and Cellular Biology at Faculty of Science at MU in Brno & Research Technician in Protein Engineering group in Loschmidt Laboratories of Faculty of Science, MU and FNUSA-ICRC
- Expertise: detailed studies of thrombolytics using advanced experimental kinetic methods
- received the Fulbright postgraduate scholarship for doctoral students
,,I have always been fascinated by studying biomolecules but thanks to the stroke research, I can now practically apply my knowledge to save numerous lives all over the world.”
Veronika Slonková
- Medical student Medicine at Medical Faculty of MU in Brno & Researcher in Protein Engineering group in Loschmidt Laboratories of Faculty of Science, MU and FNUSA-ICRC
- Expertise: testing of novel variants of thrombolytic drugs and determining their effectiveness using modern laboratory experiments and computer analyses
,,In addition to being fascinated by the mechanisms in the human body and the desire to understand them, I joined the stroke research project after close family member died of it. It was a strong motivation for me to discover new and more efficient treatment.”
Sumeet Gulati
- Medical student at Medical Faculty of MU in Brno & Junior Researcher in Department of Biophysics of the Immune System, Institute of Biophysics of the Czech Academy of Sciences
